Insignia Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a dark blue disc bearing seven silver lightning flashes radiating from behind a silver eagle displayed between an orange motto scroll bearing in silver letters the words “DIFFICILE EST SUMMISSO ESSE” enclosing the base from wing tip to wing tip.

Symbolism
Orange and white (silver) are the colors associated with the Signal Corps.  The blue refers to the atmosphere through which it must operate from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans and from the Caribbean Sea to the Bearing Sea.  The eagle suggests vigilance and dedication to duty and country.  The seven lightning flashes refer to the unit’s mission of communication and to its numerical designation.

History
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 9 April 1982.
