Insignia Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Azure and Argent, a fleur-de-lis counterchanged over all a bend halved, the parting line parallel to edges of the ordinary of the second (Argent) and of the first (Azure) charged with three axes paleways counterchanged. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Blue scroll inscribed “FORTES FORTUNA JUVAT” in Silver.

Symbolism
The shield is blue and white for Infantry. The fleur-de-lis represents the service in France and the axe is the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 84th Division. The motto translates to “Fortune Favors The Brave.”

History
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 334th Infantry Regiment, Organized Reserves on 10 February 1928. It was redesignated for the 334th Regiment, Army Reserve on 3 August 1960.
