Insignia Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 31/31 (2.46cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, a pale Or. Attached below the shield a gold scroll inscribed "FIRST TO MAINTAIN" in red letters.

Symbolism
Crimson and yellow are colors traditionally associated with the Ordnance Corps. The division of the shield is representative of the numerical designation of the unit.

History
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 1st Ordnance Battalion in 21 Mar 1942. It was approved for the 1st Maintenance Battalion on 23 Jun 1966. The insignia was amended on 8 Aug 1966 to change the motto. On 11 Jan 1993, the distinctive unit insignia was amended to revise the description and symbolism of the design.
