The colors red, blue and yellow are used to indicate representation of all branches of the Army in the Army Aviation School. The organization's aviation mission is symbolized by the perched falcon denoting the art of falconry with its patient training of a swift, keen bird for hunting. The mailed fist depicts the military commander or ground arm which exercises the control, training and direction of the flight.

History
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved 12 Jul 1954 for the Army Aviation School, Ft Sill, OK. It was amended on 18 Aug 1954 to change the motto from French to English. The insignia was redesignated to the Army Aviation School, Ft Rucker, AL, on 9 Feb 1955. On 25 Apr 1958 the insignia was amended to extend authorization of wear to the staff and faculty members of the schools and assigned student aviators.
